Gina-marie Battista-Shifferly (dancer) Gina-marie began her early training with Forest Gehret at the Harrisburg Dance Conservatory. Her additional training included the Capital Area School for the Arts, Atlanta Ballet, American Academy of Ballet and Pennsylvania Regional Ballet.
She continued her studies at the Boston Conservatory and received her BFA at Wright State University in 2009, while dancing professionally with the Dayton Contemporary Dance Second Company. Other professional performing credits include the Brown Dance Project, Luna Negra Dance Theatre, Western Ballet Theatre of Puerto Rico, BalletFleming, and Dance Del Bello, among others. Her choreographic career began with the Northeast Regional Dance America Festival and her work has since been performed in the U.S., Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. She is also the founder of Tarantella Designs which features her original jewelry and apparel as well as the work of other performing artists. Gina joined the company in 2014.

Amy Novinski (dancer) Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Amy Novinski began her dance training at the age of 3 at the Tulsa Ballet Academy under Moscelyn Larkin. After moving to Littleton, Colorado, she continued her training at the Academy of Colorado Ballet with private coaching and mentoring from Perm Ballet's Olga Tozyiakova. At the age of 18, she left home to study on scholarship at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During her four years there, for which she earned her BFA, she danced leading roles in ballets choreographed or set by Brandywine Ballet's Scott Jovovich, Twyla Tharp, Bolshoi Ballet's Anastasia Babayeva, and Christine Cox of BalletX. Ms. Novinski has performed in full-length ballets including Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, and Porgy and Bess. This is Ms. Novinski's third season with NGCB.

Barbara Craig (dancer) trained at the School of Verlezza Dance and with Cleveland City Dance. Upon graduating from Shaker Heights High School, she attended Ballet Mets pre-professional program in Columbus OH, before moving to dance with Europa Ballett Sankt Poelten, in Austria for the 2013-2014 Season. In 2014, she returned to the states to be an apprentice with the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet, where she has continued to train the past 3 years. In addition, she has performed with Verb Ballets in Cleveland Ohio, Opus #1 Contemporary dance and Bryan Koulman. This is her first season with Nora Gibson Contemporary Ballet.

Adrianna de Svastich (dancer)
began her ballet training under Leonid Kozlov in Ramsey, New Jersey. She was then accepted to The School of American Ballet in New York City. She also attended various summer programs with American Ballet Theatre, Miami City Ballet, and The Royal Ballet School in London. During her final year at SAB, she performed with the New York City Ballet in Balanchine’s Serenade and Chopiniana, and in Susan Stroman’s Double Feature. Ms. de Svastich was a member of Pennsylvania Ballet II for two years before becoming an Apprentice in August 2007. She was promoted to the Corps de Ballet in 2009-2011 and from 2016-present. Her performing experience with Pennsylvania Ballet includes George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, Ballo Della Regina, The Four Temperaments, Square Dance, Theme and Variations, Concerto Barocco and Serenade; Jerome Robbins’ The Concert; Christopher Wheeldon’s Swan Lake and Carnival of the Animals; John Cranko’s Romeo and Juliet; Matthew Neenan’s Carmina Burana; Roland Petit’s Carmen, Twyla Tharp’s Push Comes To Shove; Ben Stevenson’s Dracula; Frederick Ashton’s La Fille Mal Gardee and Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella. She was also featured as a Corps de Ballet dancer in the Academy Award winning film Black Swan. is a dancer and choreographer newly-based in Philadelphia. He currently dances for The Naked Stark, Anne-Marie Mulgrew & Dancers Co, Vervet Dance, stb x at, and SKI BALL. Sean holds a BFA in Dance from the University of Iowa and has danced for Ballet Minnesota, Moving Arts Ensemble, Dancers in Company, Antonia & Artists, and independent choreographers including Esther Baker-Tarpaga, Jennifer Muller, Nicholas Leichter, Nora Gibson, Chris Masters, Melinda Jean Myers, and Paula Lamamie de Clairac. Sean's work has been presented at Ten Tiny Performances, LOUi, Fertile Ground, Percussive Arts Society International Convention, IUCC Experimental Microcinema, InHale Performance Series, ETC. Performance Series, iHearIC, Society of Composers Inc, 24+24, OCGOPF, and IC Open City, as well as at various University of Iowa concerts and self-produced shows and tours. Brian Cordova (dancer) native of Brentwood, NY, began his formal dance training in 2010 focusing in ballet and modern styles. He earned his BFA in Dance from Temple University in December 2016, completing numerous choreographic works presented in Conwell Dance Theater and the InHale Performance Series in South Philadelphia. He has also worked to become an established freelance lighting designer, presenting designs for Temple University MFA thesis concerts, Temple Preparatory School, and Philadelphia’s Fringe Festival. Brian has had the pleasure to dance with artists such as Kariamu Welsh, Charles Anderson, Lauren Putty-White, Meredith Rainey, and Kun-Yang Lin and looks forward to joining Nora Gibson Contemporary Ballet for this coming season.

Jessica Warchal-King (dancer) is a performer, choreographer, educator, and dance advocate in Philadelphia. A graduate of Muhlenberg College with degrees in dance and anthropology, Jessica
received her MFA in Dance from Temple University in 2010. Jessica is also an artist with Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers and has performed for independent choreographers Jeffrey Peterson, Lisa Kraus, Tiffany Mills, Deana DeHart, Pat
Catterson, Danny Buraczewski, Jacques d’Amboise, and Nicholas Leichter. Her choreography has been presented throughout Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, and Washington DC. Jessica is an adjunct professor at Widener University and Muhlenberg College, teaches Dance for PD (dance classes for people with Parkinson's Disease) and Advanced/ Intermediate Ballet and Modern Dance at the CHI Movement Arts Center, home of Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers and is a Certified Power Pilates Mat I & II Instructor. Melissa McCarten (dancer) began her dance training at Arlington Center for Dance in Arlington, Virginia, and was a soloist in the Center Dance Ballet Company. She has trained at Houston Ballet, Boston Ballet and the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance in Austria. Melissa attended New York University where she earned a BFA in Dance from Tisch School of the Arts. While there, she performed works by Gus Solomons Jr., Marjorie Mussman, and Paul Taylor. She has been a company member of Cherylyn Lavagnino Dance in New York and Corte Sconta, a modern dance company in Milan. She has performed with various New York choreographers such as Adair Landborne, Arron Wendall, and Chris Yon. She now lives in Philadelphia and is enjoying getting to know the dance community there. Melissa has performed with the company in two separate seasons.

Kathryn Van Yahres (apprentice) was born in Philadelphia, PA and received her formal training from Mariaelena Ruiz, Natasha Zeiger, and Eva Szabo at The Rock School in Philadelphia. In 2014 Kathryn completed her B.F.A, Magna Cum Laude from Point Park University Conservatory of Performing Arts (COPA) in Pittsburgh, PA. Kathryn received the Loti Folk Scholarship Award for academic and artistic excellence as well as other artistic scholarships. During her time in COPA, she performed principal and soloist roles in George Balanchine’s ballets “Serenade” and “Valse Fantasies”, as well as Nicolas Petrov’s “Romeo and Juliet”.
Kathryn has had the wonderful opportunity to dance with the companies such as Huntsville Ballet, Simerson & Co., and Lemon Sponge Cake Contemporary Ballet. In 2016, Kathryn completed a two-year intensive Pilates certification program under the direction of master teacher, Karen H. Carlson.

Michele Dooley (apprentice) started her dance training in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. She graduated from the High School for Creative and Performing Arts under the direction of LaDeva Davis in 2013 and is currently a Senior at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia under the direction of Donna Faye Burchfield. She has also been a member of Eleone Dance Theatre under the direction of Shawn Lamere Williams since 2014. She attended Bates Summer Intensive in 2013 and Ballet X's summer program in 2014. She has worked with choreographers such as Gary Jeter, Tommie Waheed Evans, Paris Lacey, Molly Misgalla, Dara Meredith, and Nora Gibson.

José Raúl Mangual is a BFA candidate in Musical Theater at Temple University. José began his formal dance training at Temple University under the guidance of Heidi Cruz-Austin, Maggie Anderson, Jillian Harris, and Nora Gibson. Before arriving at Temple University, José received partial training at Susquehanna Dance Center, Viktor Yeliohin International Ballet Academy, and Encore Dance Center. Since arriving at Temple University, he has portrayed Jesus in GODSPELL and Jean-Paul Marat in Marat/Sade, among others. In his spare time, José also writes, draws, people-watches, and organizes peace marches.

He has also worked with the PRIMA Theater Company, Ephrata Performing Arts Center, and the Mt. Gretna Playhouse in their production of A Little Mermaid and TYA series. Here in Philadelphia Knable has performed with Dance Del Bello Ballet Company in their annual ballet of A Christmas Story, understudied at the Walnut Street Theater, and performed in a few Temple productions through the dance and theater department. At Temple Knable has had the pleasure to study with Jillian Harris, Kun-Yang Lin, Kariamu Welsh, Maggie Anderson, Peter Reynolds, and Nora Gibson herself! He is Thrilled to be joining the NGCB team!

Meredith Stapleton (dancer) grew up in Harvard, MA training at Acton School of Ballet
and performing with Commonwealth Ballet Company. In 2013, she graduated from
Muhlenberg College with a B.A. in Dance and a minor in Women’s Studies. In
Spring 2012, Meredith studied in Arezzo, Italy at Accademia dell’Arte. She has
attended many summer workshops, including Burklyn Ballet Theater, Alonzo King
Lines School of Ballet, the Boston Conservatory, on scholarship with Summer
Stages at Concord Academy, and Doug Varone & Dancers. Meredith has performed
works by Corrie Cowart, Trinette Singleton, Meredith Rainey, Sean Curran, Teresa
Fellion, The Bang Group, Heidi Cruz-Austin, Charlotte Boye-Christensen, and
Jeffrey Peterson. Meredith is also currently performing with DanceSpora and
Antonia Brown. She is thrilled to be making her professional debut in

Erin Gallagher (dancer) Originally from Clifton Heights, Pennsylvania, Erin Gallagher trained at the Swarthmore Ballet Theatre, the Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts in Connecticut, and later at the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet in Narberth, Pennsylvania. In 2004, Erin began her professional career with Ballet Oklahoma under the direction of Bryan Pitts. There, she danced corps de ballet, soloist, and principal roles, including Sugar Plum Fairy and Snow Queen in The Nutcracker, Queen Anne in The Three Musketeers, and the Lily Variation in Romeo and Juliet. Since returning to Philadelphia in 2008, Erin has performed as a guest artist with Pennsylvania Ballet and Opus 1 Contemporary Dance. In addition to dancing and teaching, Erin most recently attended Temple University, graduating summa cum laude in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

Eiren Shuman (dancer) was born in New York City and raised in Philadelphia. He graduated from Temple University in 2008 with a BFA in Dance, and has additionally studied at the Laban Institite in London. Eiren has had the opportunity to dance with and for many Philadelphia choreographers such as Jumatatu Poe, Jaamil Kosoko, Megan Mazarick, Abby Zbikowski, Kun-Yang Lin, Meredith Rainey, and Nora Gibson. When he is not dancing, he is teaching movement workshops for children of all ages as well as those with mental and physical disabilities. He also is a Figure Model for many art institutions as well as independent artists and artist collectives within and around the Philadelphia area.

Jeffrey Gunshol (dancer) has been performing and choreographing for over twenty years. Gunshol received his training from Sylvester Campbell while at the Baltimore School for the Arts, and later from the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, ADF, and The Merce Cunningham School. He received a BFA from the Virginia Commonwealth University, and an MFA from the University of Utah. His first professional experience was with Melanie Stewart Dance Theater, and since that time was a company member of The Liz Lerman Dance Exchange and Dendy Dance. He is currently a professor in the Theatre and Dance Department at Tulane University and is a dancer and has choreographed for the New Orleans based company Tsunami. Gunshol's work has been performed in Washington DC at Dance Place, in New York at Dixon Place and Joyce Soho, and in many other cities throughout the world. Recently, his work has been produced in Philadelphia through his 2008 nEW artist residency.
Michael Reiley McDermott is a composer and soundscape architect. He has created works for video, dance, stage, installation, smart phones, multi-speaker arrays, wind sculptures, wishing wells and deep sleep. His practice explores the relationship between present moment awareness, deep time and humanity's personal connection through listening. His work integrates a daily practice of meditation, Deep Listening and textured sound worlds through a process he calls “sonic photography”. This process involves site specific recordings of physical spaces re-imagined using photographic development and collage techniques. His aim is to reframe the everyday world as both a grand statement that stretches out in both directions of time and as an ephemeral instant of precious connection. Michael was recently Artist in Residence at <fidget>, Composer in Residence for Temple University’s BEEP Ensemble and is Composer in Residence at Village of the Arts and Humanities. He recently completed a certification program in Deep Listening studying with Deep Listening pioneer Pauline Oliveros.
jason haggerty (developer) With formal training in fine art, digital media, and interactive media, Haggerty works in a multitude of environments in several different media. Recent years, however, have been focused on developing his real-time procedural programming skills in software such as TouchDesigner and Notch, in combination with 3D modelling for screen, graphic and web design, and video production. With a penchant for real-time media, Jason creates live audio-visual performances for festivals such as Rainbow Serpent Festival and is producing full-dome AV works to be premiered in the US in 2019. He has also created interactive visuals for stage, using Notch integrated with Black Trax. Employing, motion-tracking, depth cameras, touch screens and custom-built controllers, Jason has devised and developed many interactive installations, including interactive artworks for Griffith University, HOTA, and Glow Festival.

Katinka has a preference for multi-disciplinary collaborations that combine dance, music, and visual art and in which lighting design develops and exists parallel to the choreography. Next to her design work Katinka advises students at the School for New Dance Development, the master Choreography and DasArts at the AHK, Amsterdam on lighting design and scenography. Julia Novack (LD assistant/electrician) entered theatrical world as an acting student at NYC's High School for Performing Arts. But after an advanced 35mm photography program at the International Center of Photography in NY and various film and theater projects, she learned that her true passion is in lighting design. In Skidmore College's theatrical program, Julia worked in lighting and electrics for a number of performances, culminating in design for Stupid F**king Bird: A sort of Adaptation of The Seagull, by Aaron Posner. After working at the Saratoga Opera's summer stock season, Julia moved from Brooklyn, where she grew up, to Philadelphia where she has worked in many theaters and on many productions with some very wonderful people. She is grateful for the opportunity to work with Nora and Katinka. Shout out to the team, it has been a blast!
Clifford Greer is a lighting designer/technician with an interest in creating unique lighting states for dance and live performance. He pursues a lighting-as-art approach in lighting design work. Previous credits include lighting design for Jerome Bel's The Show Must Go On, at Perelman Theater at the Kimmel Center (2008), and many Philadelphia choreographers, such as Charles Anderson, Megan Mazarick, Olive Prince, Gabrielle Revlock, Melanie Stewart, Meghan Durham, Guillermo Ortega-Tanus, EunJung Coi, and others.

She has collaborated with Golden Palace, Sara Wookey, Lidy Six, Martin Nachbar, Sanja Mitrovic, Roser Lopez Espinosa, Daniel AlmgrenRecen,Noha Ramadan, Sasa Asentic, Andrea Bozic, Ibrahim Quraishi, Emily Roysdon,Sonja Jokiniemi, Alma Soderberg, dj Joaquin Claussell and composer Ivo Bol. Next to her design work Katinka advises students at the School for New Dance Development, the master Choreography and DasArts at the AHK, Amsterdam on lighting design and scenography. Julia Novack (LD assistant/electrician) entered theatrical world as an acting student at NYC's High School for Performing Arts. But after an advanced 35mm photography program at the International Center of Photography in NY and various film and theater projects, she learned that her true passion is in lighting design. In Skidmore College's theatrical program, Julia worked in lighting and electrics for a number of performances, culminating in design for Stupid F**king Bird: A sort of Adaptation of The Seagull, by Aaron Posner. After working at the Saratoga Opera's summer stock season, Julia moved from Brooklyn, where she grew up, to Philadelphia where she has worked in many theaters and on many productions with some very wonderful people. She is grateful for the opportunity to work with Nora and Katinka. Shout out to the team, it has been a blast!
Clifford Greer is a lighting designer/technician with an interest in creating unique lighting states for dance and live performance. He pursues a lighting-as-art approach in lighting design work. Previous credits include lighting design for Jerome Bel's The Show Must Go On, at Perelman Theater at the Kimmel Center (2008), and many Philadelphia choreographers, such as Charles Anderson, Megan Mazarick, Olive Prince, Gabrielle Revlock, Melanie Stewart, Meghan Durham, Guillermo Ortega-Tanus, EunJung Coi, and others.
